STORIES FROM MY BLACK BOOK
The drawings you see here are pages from my personal sketch books, in effect my visual diaries. It is a daily practice which creates a flow and ease with drawing. By design, it allows me the immediacy of translating anything I think of into an image. A discipline I have exercised everyday for 37 years.
It places drawing and the use of line at the center of my art practice. It is from here that everything else springs. At its most formal it is simply intersecting lines of width, height and depth over and over again. In its most romantic form it is expressionistic symbolism drawn from a life lived, a life learned and a life imagined. What is important to me is that the learned past, the experienced present and the imagined future are represented in the pages of MY BLACK BOOKS.
